Crime Prevention Specialist to receive award from the ISCPP

Fortuna Police Department’s Crime Prevention Specialist Enoch Ibarra, has been selected to receive an award as this year’s volunteer of the year from The International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners.  He is scheduled to receive the award in September at this year’s symposium in Niagara Falls, Canada. The International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners is an international organization and a leader in Crime Prevention education, programs and activities. The ISCPP boasts members from around the globe.

Fortuna Police Chief William Dobberstein, nominated Crime Prevention Specialist Ibarra for this prestigious award for his work in coordinating the Fortuna Police annual Disaster Fair, business merchant seminars, identity theft education, residential and business security programs and coordinating specialized training for local law enforcement through the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.

Unfortunately, he will be unable to attend the awards ceremony as he is scheduled to be a presenter at this year’s California Crime Prevention Officer’s Association Symposium in Sacramento, during the same week.

Ibarra has served Fortuna Police Department as a volunteer since 1993, and continues to serve in a number of specialized roles including as a translator, as its lead Crime Prevention Practitioner, and as Community Liaison coordinating Neighborhood and Business Watch programs, and media relations.

He previously served as a volunteer with the Humboldt County Sheriff, and as their Public Information Officer, before being convinced to leave and serve with Fortuna Police by former Police Chief Kent Bradshaw.

He is a graduate of the former ?Redwoods Police Academy’s Reserve Peace Officer Academy and of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
