On the night of Thursday, July 15, 2010, during the special saturation patrol, in Fortuna, officers conducted several traffic enforcement stops and driver evaluations. As a result of these enforcement efforts officers arrested a driver for suspicion of driving under the influence, child endangerment and falsified vehicle registration. This driver was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, the child was released to a responsible adult and the vehicle was towed. Additionally a passenger was arrested for possession of suspected controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and an outstanding arrest warrant. The passenger was also booked in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
The Fortuna Police Department will continue these enforcement efforts and urges drivers to be responsible and not to drive under the influence. “Be safe and designate a sober driver if under the influence of alcohol and or drugs. If you don’t the Fortuna PD will designate an officer to drive you safely to jail.”
