On the night of Friday, July 23, 2010, following the AutoXpo Cruise officers conducted the special saturation patrol, in Fortuna, officers conducted several traffic enforcement stops and driver evaluations. As a result of these enforcement efforts officers arrested three drivers for suspicion of driving under the influence.
The first arrest was as a result of an impaired driver colliding with a parked and unoccupied vehicle in the 700 block of Fortuna Blvd. This driver fled the scene, the driver and the vehicle were located by officers and as a result of the investigation the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. The driver was booked in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and the vehicle was towed.
The next driver was contacted as a result of an enforcement stop. The driver was found to be unlicensed. Officers suspected the driver was impaired and as a result of the investigation the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and driving unlicensed. The driver was booked in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and the vehicle was towed.
The last driver was contacted as a result of an enforcement stop. Officers suspected the driver was impaired and as a result of the investigation the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver was booked in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and the vehicle was towed. The Fortuna Police Department will continue these enforcement efforts and urges drivers to be responsible and not to drive under the influence. “Be safe and designate a sober driver if under the influence of alcohol and or drugs. If you don’t the Fortuna PD will designate an officer to drive you safely to jail.”
